EMI515 (known as "DJ Emi-nee" on TikTok and other Japan-based DJ live streams)
Born in Tokyo, Japan. During her high school and university years (at Nihon University College of Art), she was deeply into rock music, performing as a bassist and guitarist in several bands.
Later, she fell in love with European dance music after experiencing legendary club parties at The END, fabric, and Ministry of Sound in the UK, as well as Space, Amnesia, and Pacha in Ibiza — which inspired her to start her journey as a DJ.
In June 2006, she made her DJ debut under the name Assy at Paolo Mojo's Japan event held at WAREHOUSE Azabu-Juban.
Her mixing style is characterized by smooth, cross-genre transitions across Techno, House, Progressive, and Trance.
In 2023, she came out publicly as a transgender woman after a long personal journey with gender identity (GID).
She rebranded as EMI515｜DJ Emi-nee, shifting her musical focus toward Melodic Techno, Tech House, Hard Techno, and Tech Trance.
Drawing from nearly 20 years of experience observing both Japanese and international dance music scenes, festivals, and DJs, she now shares authentic insights about real dance music, DJs, and festivals through a diverse range of online media platforms.
Her influences include Laurent Garnier, John Digweed, Armin van Buuren, Eric Prydz, Joris Voorn, and many others.
